A Weeks Worth

April 2016 ; hard ground etching ; 16.44” x 4.87”

(pictured above and to left)

This etching was a pivotal moment in my artistic practice. For one week, I carried around this large piece of zinc and continuously doodled and wrote on top of it. For the first time, I finally had made work that felt in line with how I was feeling and what I was thinking about. It was honest. I still look back at this piece in awe at the state of mind and time period it captured for me.

How to Build a Sandwich

Various foods pressed through printing press, printing ink, paper ; various sizes ; Spring 2016

What is printmaking without a little chance? I had this idea to create prints of the individual parts of a common sandwich : bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, meat, condiments. I wanted to press each food item through the press, essentially making a mess on the paper. I experimented inking the items and not, and only came out with a few images. The bread pushed the printing press a little too much, and I became hesitant to continue with the other parts in fear of breaking something that was not mine (and is very expensive).
